Description
San Luis de Morete, San Isidro del General, Perez Zeledon, San Jose
Property Type: Land Size: 215,114 m2 – 21.51 Hectares
Located 900 meters above the ocean, just 8 miles from the coastal road, this unique 21.51 hectare sanctuary overlooks Bocana, a 90 meter waterfall. This unique property offers stunning mountain views, expansive views towards Isla del Caño and the sea.
The property currently features two houses, a garage, a storage building, a laundry room, a greenhouse, and goat and chicken kennels. There are currently three horses, and the horseback riding in the area is exceptional.
The two custom designed and built residences have charm and individuality. They are unique in comparison with other residences in Perez Zeledon and Osa. They were built between the owners and Mick Clement, an English designer, builder and artist who lives in Chirripó. The wood was mainly sourced locally in the Diamante Valley.
There is a bamboo forest and a group of cacao trees. There are several fruit trees. The former owners had a coffee field and a banana plantation. The property is surrounded by road frontage and the internal streets can be accessed by six different entrances. There are well-maintained internal roads and a permaculture-influenced agricultural area intended for food production and animal husbandry.
It has a drinking water supply system from ASADA, electricity service and Internet is available on the property.
San Luis Morete is a small village, overlooking the 'Whale Tail', with friendly inhabitants. It has a school, a clinic, a church, a community hall, a soccer field and a small cafe and provision store.
Bocana (San Luis) Waterfall is bordered on both sides by a 2,500-acre nature reserve that is among the six most diverse bioregions in the country. It is home to howler monkeys, white-faced capuchin monkeys, sloths, jaguars, pumas and other wild cats, white-tailed deer, and many other animal species. The area is prime for bird watching.
Sanctuaries like this one, so close to the coast, are rare and highly sought-after places.
Another sanctuary, Marino Ballena, the protected marine park and home of humpback whales that arrive each year from the northern and southern hemispheres at different times, adds to the area's appeal.
For twenty years, the Bocana Sanctuary has been guarded with special concern for the beauty and diversity of its natural environment by the current owners, who have only been able to visit it during vacation periods throughout the year.
The property is now available to new caretakers who share the same values of community with nature.
